Thought For The Week - We Must All Suffer From One Of Two Pains

"We must all suffer from one of two pains: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret. The difference is discipline weighs ounces while regret weighs tons."— Jim Rohn... Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but one who hates correction is foolish. Pain is non-negotiable in this life; the only choice you have is which kind you will endure. The pain of discipline is active, intentional, and temporary. It is the daily decision to deny self, wake up early, guard your tongue, steward your resources, and walk in obedience when compromise would be easier. It stings in the moment, but its weight is light compared to what it builds. The pain of regret, however, is passive and permanent. It is the crushing weight of looking back at a life defined by wasted potential, broken covenants, and ignored warnings. Regret carries no redemption—only the heavy realization that short-term comfort cost you long-term freedom. Choose the light weight of daily obedience over the crushing weight of regret.
Hebrews 12:11 (NIV) "No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it."
Scripture never pretends that spiritual discipline feels good while you're in it. Godly discipline demands friction today so it can produce "a harvest of righteousness and peace" tomorrow.
