Thought For The Week - Discipline Will Take You Where Motivation Can't

"Commitment separates those who live their dreams from those who live their lives regretting the opportunities they have squandered." — Bill Russell.
Commitment is the bridge between the "Daily Process" and the "Established Plan." In the Management of Human Affairs, it is easy to start with fire, but only commitment keeps the fire burning when the "storms and injuries" of the world try to douse it. Russell’s insight hits the bone: if you aren't committed to the specific ground you occupy, you are simply waiting to regret the opportunity later. As the saying goes, "Discipline will take you where motivation can't." Motivation is a fair-weather friend that disappears when the fatigue of the work sets in, but discipline is the iron in the blood of the Warhorse.
Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans."
In the Kingdom, commitment is a vertical act before it is a horizontal one. When you commit your work—your trade, your leadership, your family—to the Lord, you are handing Him the blueprints and trusting the discipline He has forged in you. You move from trying to "make it happen" to watching Him "establish" it.
